App Walkthrough

âš“ Before you begin...

Make sure:

  1. Your mobile device is on EDG’s 📱edgLink Device Compatibility list.
  2. Bluetooth is enabled on your mobile device.
  3. There is a reliable reliable internet connection suitable for your EDG system.
  4. Your smartphone has line-of-site accessibility to the antenna on your EDG system.
⚠️
If your EDG system will be installed in an enclosure which will prevent line-of-site connectivity for the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth antenna, you must extend the antenna connection to the exterior of the enclosure. Contact us for recommendations on an antenna cable extension.

Finally, we recommend that you read the walkthrough before attempting any of the steps. This will get you acquainted with the edgLink process so the steps will be easier to understand when you are walking through the steps with an actual EDG System.

🔑 1. Logging in to the app

The edgLink app requires that you log in using the username on file with EDG. If you are not an authorized user of an EDG system, you will not be able to log in to the app.

⚠️
In addition to having an EDG username, an appropriate user role must be assigned for you to use the app. If you are not EDG’s direct customer, it is likely that your username is not authorized to use the app.

🎬 2. Prepare system connections

  1. Connect the supplied Wi-Fi / Bluetooth antenna to the system.
    • Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity for EDG systems both occur through the same antenna. Install the antenna which was supplied with your system.
  2. Connect power to your EDG system.
    • Power to EDG systems is sourced from an AC/DC power adapter which plugs into the system’s connector panel. Use the AC/DC power adapter that was supplied with your system.
  3. Apply power to the EDG system.
    • Apply power to the system using the rocker switch or power button on the system’s connector panel.

đź’ˇ 3. Wait for the status LEDs

After applying power, the system’s LEDs will illuminate in a specific color pattern to indicate that the system is read to pair.

  1. Immediately after applying power:
  2. đź’ˇ
The small circular LED on the system’s connector panel will blink ON and OFF, illuminating in an orange color.
    đź’ˇ
The LED on the surface of the EDG system will be in the OFF state, and not illuminating.
  3. Wait for approximately 2 minutes for the system to activate Bluetooth.
  4. After waiting for 2 minutes:
  5. đź’ˇ
The LED on the surface of the EDG system will transition from OFF to ON, illuminating in a pink color.
  6. The system is ready to pair! Tap CONTINUE to proceed to the next screen.
Immediately after turning on the rocker switch, the circular LED on the connector back panel LED illuminates orange and blinks ON and OFF. The LED on the surface of the EDG system is in an OFF state.

đź”— 4. Pair with Bluetooth

On the Bluetooth pairing screen, your EDG system will appear in the list of “MY EDG DEVICE”. Select "PAIR" next to the system whose Wi-Fi credentials you would like to update.

⚠️
The seven digit number for the systems displayed corresponds to the number on the barcode sticker on the system’s connector panel.

If the Bluetooth pairing is not successful:

  • Verify that the EDG-supplied Bluetooth + Wi-Fi antenna is correctly installed on the system’s connector panel.
  • Verify that your mobile device is within line-of-site range of the system’s Bluetooth antenna.
  • Make sure your mobile device is on EDG’s 📱edgLink Device Compatibility list.
  • Try “forgetting” other Bluetooth devices which your mobile device may be associated with.

📶 5. Wi-Fi programming selection

If this is the first time the device will be programmed with the edgLink app, tap FIRST TIME WI-FI CONNECT.

⚠️
Subsequent attempts to modify the Wi-Fi settings are only possible using the other two buttons:
  • If you have already programmed the Wi-Fi credentials, but you typed them incorrectly, you will need to CHANGE WI-FI SETTINGS to correct them.
  • Alternatively, you can CLEAR WI-FI SETTINGS. After clearing the settings, to program them again you will need re-run the app and CHANGE WI-FI SETTINGS.

📶 6. Select a Wi-Fi network

The "Select a Wi-Fi Network" screen will show a list of Wi-Fi networks detected by the EDG system.

  1. Select the appropriate Wi-Fi network name from the list and enter the password for that network.
  2. To program the credentials for that network into your EDG system, tap CONNECT TO WI-FI.
⚠️
To connect to a non-broadcasted Wi-Fi network, enter the network’s name and password manually. Non-broadcasted networks will not appear in this list of available Wi-Fi networks.

⏱️ 7. Wait for edgLink to complete

Wait for the app to report that the Bluetooth transmission is complete.

If the edgLink process is not successful, try again by carefully following the steps within this walkthrough.

🌟 8: Wi-Fi Update Complete!

After the edgLink mobile app indicates “Wi-Fi Update Complete!”, please:

  1. Cycle power to your EDG system by toggling the rocker switch or power button on the system’s connector panel.
  2. đź’ˇ
The LED on the surface of the EDG system will blink ON and OFF, illuminating in an green color.
    🔊
You will hear the system make an audible beep. This indicates the system has successfully connected to EDG’s cloud architecture, and is now operable.
  3. Verify you entered the correct Wi-Fi credentials by accessing your system directly through your EDG mobile app.
image
⚠️
This screen is reporting the success of programming the user supplied network credentials into the EDG system using Bluetooth. The edgLink mobile app does not know whether the EDG system has successfully connected to the Internet. If you suspect that you entered invalid Wi-Fi credentials, you must start the entire walkthrough over and refer to step 5 to update or clear the Wi-Fi settings.
After successfully programming the Wi-Fi network name and password, cycle power to the system. While it is rebooting you, the LED on the surface of the EDG system will blink ON and OFF, illuminating green to indicate that the system is connected to EDG’s cloud infrastructure.
